What to look for when looking for golf shoes

When it comes to purchasing a pair of golf shoes there are many different types and aspects to consider.  Averagely you walk 5 miles around the golf course; they need to be comfortable, waterproof, have good traction, durable, and to obviously look good. This is why it’s wise to invest in a good quality pair of golf shoes.

Many golf shoes resemble a tennis shoe, but with spikes. Many shoes have soft spikes for the green, so there aren’t any marks left behind, some golf courses insist on this. It is considered good etiquette to have soft spiked shoes, as metal spikes leave marks and damage to the green. Golfers with recovering knee injuries may want to purchase golf shoes with plastic nubs rather than spikes, as they allow a more even weight distribution than spiked shoes do.

As I stated before there are many different variations of golf shoes on the market. You can choose from a leather type shoe, which has a better look and more of a classic appeal. Or you can choose from a sneaker look type shoe. These are known to be more comfortable, and provide a wide fit option for many of their shoes, which for some give that extra bit of room. With many of the sneaker type golf shoes, there are many that are waterproof; these are extremely worthwhile as most of the golf courses hold moisture from previous days of rain. This could result in having damp feet, which could provoke blisters to appear.

The top brands of golf shoes that you can purchase are the obvious choices, such as Adidas, Nike and Footjoy. But for those of you who are new to golf, and don’t play too often, brands such as style, Phonix, and Hi-tec, will provide you with what you need.

In all, it’s just like buying any shoe, they need to fit, but not be too tight and they need to be comfortable. You will find that the size you are in normal shoes will be the size you are in golf shoes.
