Brown University admission committee?
Brown University is my dream school. I have low ACT test scores, well a little higher than state and national average. I have a high gpa and rank #2 in my class. I have nice extracurricular activities: academic decathlon, golf, NHS, and art club. I also did an internship at city hall this past summer, working in the treasurers office. So i was wondering, do the admission committee from Brown actually look at the applications holistically? I believe that i have strong essays but since my scores are low, which in one of my essays i explain my test anxiety, i fear that they would reject me on the spot. Also i am African American if anybody is wondering. So is there any last minute things i could do to make my application stand out. Should i call or email them? idk?
Try to take the ACT or SAT again if you have time. If you’ve done so many other interesting things that make you stand out and show that you have a curiosity for learning, then I don’t think they would automatically reject you and not even give your application a chance. Top colleges generally consider many more aspects than just your test scores and class rank, and although it does definitely help to rank #2 in your class, it’s also not “all about the numbers.” Often, the kid with the perfect test scores and nothing else much isn’t the one who gets accepted by these universities, cuz it shows that all you know how to do is study. Good luck!!
